FAQ

Why do I need to have a driver?

We do not recommend driving on the day of the procedure.

What if I can’t find a driver?

Please call the clinic where your procedure is taking place to reschedule. The procedure will be rescheduled if you do not have a driver.

Should I take my medicine before my appointment?

If you are taking anticoagulant medicine, Dr. Lutz’s policy does not require you to stop taking it prior to any scheduled injections. However, if you take Coumadin / Warfarin you are required to obtain an INR within 24 hours prior to your scheduled injection. No INR is necessary for consult appointments with Dr. Lutz. Pain medicine, including over the counter medication, should not be taken 6 hours before a scheduled injection appointment. All other medicine should be taken as directed. If you have specific questions regarding a medication, please call 651-313-8250.

Can I eat/drink before my appointment?

Please refrain from eating or drinking for 2 hours prior to your appointment.

Can I work after my appointment?

You should plan on taking the remainder of the day off of work after your appointment.

What should I expect when I come in for my appointment?

There will be paperwork to fill out prior to your appointment. The nurse will check your blood pressure and pulse. Dr Lutz will evaluate you regarding your pain and recommend the best course of action. The procedure can usually be done the same day.

What should I bring with to my appointment?

Please bring your referral, and any MRI or imaging reports. These may be faxed to us ahead of time. Your picture ID and insurance card are also required at check-in for all appointments.

Am I sedated for this?

Most procedures do not require sedation. Premedication can be given orally if needed. Please ask about premedication prior to the day of your appointment.
